About zHome

zHome is a revolutionary, 10-unit townhome development that uses smart design and cutting edge technologies to radically reduce its environmental impacts. zHome proves that homes that use zero net energy and 70% less water, emit net zero carbon emissions, have clean indoor air and use only low-toxicity materials are possible and scalable to mainstream home production.

zHome is a testament to the determination of a committed group of community partners and building professionals who came together to make it happen. The partners never stopped believing they could make this groundbreaking idea into a reality—a climate neutral residential project that would catalyze the green building market. Six years in the making, the project had just broken ground when the economy and construction market collapsed in 2008. Unwilling to let the dream fall apart, the partners worked through funding problems, paired with three different builders, and persevered to make zHome into the award-winning green building project it is today.
